Under InvestigationSources: ALast updated: 14 October 2026

On 12 April 2024, a cabin on the cable car line between Sarısu and Tünektepe in Antalya's Konyaaltı district struck a pylon, broke apart and fell. One person was killed and seven were injured. Because the line stopped, 174 people in the other cabins had to be evacuated in a rescue operation lasting about 22.5 hours, involving AFAD, gendarmerie, fire brigade and helicopter teams. Following the investigation, 12 defendants were put on trial. An expert report prepared by academics from Middle East Technical University found five defendants primarily at fault. The trial is continuing in Antalya. The accident raised questions about maintenance and inspection of cable cars and similar facilities.
