By using Dark Location you agree to these terms. The service is provided by the operator of Dark Location.
What the service is
Dark Location is an archive and map of real crime and tragedy cases compiled from public sources. It exists for remembrance, understanding and awareness, not entertainment.
Nothing in the archive is legal advice, investigative information or an official record. Sources can differ; for authoritative information, refer to the authorities and the rulings themselves.
Presumption of innocence
No one is presented as guilty without a final conviction. We don't speculate about suspects in unsolved cases, and we ask you to take the same care in your notes.
Age limit and sensitive content
The service is for users aged 18 and over. It covers heavy subjects such as murder, disappearance and violence. You can turn on sensitive-content blur in settings.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your details accurate and your password secret. You can delete your account from within the app at any time.
Memorial notes and contributions
Notes you write are public. The following is not allowed:
- Calling anyone guilty without a final ruling; defamation and insults.
- Demeaning victims, their families or any group; glorifying violence.
- Sharing personal details such as addresses or phone numbers, or unverified allegations.
- Advertising, spam and links to other sites.
Moderation
Notes reported by users may be hidden automatically. We may remove content that breaks these rules without notice and close accounts for repeated violations.
The assistant
The assistant answers only from the case record and can make mistakes. Its answers are not definitive facts or legal advice; check the sources on anything important.
Use is limited per day (3 questions without an account, 20 with one).
Corrections and removal
If you spot an error or want a record removed, use "Report an error" on the case page or write to [email protected].
Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for decisions made based on information in the archive.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms and will announce significant changes in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.
