On 4 April 2024, Figen Çoban was killed by her husband in Muğla. The court sentenced the defendant to aggravated imprisonment for "the intentional killing of a woman and a spouse through a monstrous feeling"; a relative tried for assisting and harboring the offender also received a 17-year prison sentence. The Court of Cassation upheld the rulings, making the case final.
