The Özlem Arslan case
In the Milas district of Muğla, 39-year-old Özlem Arslan was killed in a planned attack by her husband, from whom she was in the process of divorcing; he wore a mask and gloves during the killing. Fleeing the scene, the suspect discarded his clothing in a garbage container and was apprehended at a friend's home in Bodrum. In the case heard before the Milas Heavy Penal Court, the court convicted the defendant of 'aggravated intentional homicide' and sentenced him to aggravated life imprisonment. The victim's family stated that she had suffered years of abuse.
