Bomb Attack on a Bursa Prison Staff Bus

On the morning of 20 April 2022, a bus carrying prison staff to work was attacked with a homemade explosive device in the Osmangazi district of Bursa. Prison guard Cengiz Yiğit was killed and four other staff on the bus were injured. The Bursa governorate described it as a treacherous attack on prison personnel, and the justice and interior ministers attended a ceremony in the city. Yiğit's body was sent to his hometown of Ağrı. After lengthy surveillance, three suspects, reportedly living under false identities, were captured in the Dikili district of İzmir on 17 September 2022. Officials attributed the attack to the MLKP militant organisation. As no final verdict could be confirmed in the sources, the suspects are not named.
