ULVILA — 2006 · Unsolved Case
The Ulvila Homicide
On the night of 1 December 2006, in the town of Ulvila in western Finland, 51-year-old social psychologist and father of four Jukka S. Lahti was attacked and killed in his home. His wife told the emergency services that a masked intruder had entered the house. In 2009 she was arrested and charged with the murder; she was twice convicted by a district court, but both verdicts were overturned on appeal, and her acquittal became final in December 2015 when the Supreme Court refused the prosecution leave to appeal. The killing therefore remained unsolved. In December 2024 Finland's National Bureau of Investigation took over the file and reopened the inquiry, saying all possibilities were open.
