Frauke Liebs, a 21-year-old nursing student, disappeared on the night of 20 June 2006 while heading home in Paderborn after watching a football match with friends. Over the following week she repeatedly contacted family and friends from her own phone by text and brief calls, saying she would soon be home, but in later calls hinting she was not free. The last call came on 27 June. Her body was found by a hunter in woods near Lichtenau on 4 October 2006; the cause of death could not be determined.
