DUBAI — 2008 · Murder
Murder of Suzanne Tamim
Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim was found murdered in her flat at Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai on 28 July 2008. Using CCTV footage and forensic evidence, Dubai police quickly identified a former Egyptian police officer as the killer. The investigation showed the murder had been commissioned by a prominent Egyptian businessman who had promised him money. At trial in Cairo both defendants were sentenced to death in 2009; the verdict was overturned on procedural grounds, and at the 2010 retrial the instigator received 15 years and the killer life imprisonment (25 years). The instigator was released in 2017 under a presidential pardon on health grounds.
