The Murder of Journalist Couple Sagar and Runi

Maasranga Television news editor Sagar Sarowar and ATN Bangla reporter Meherun Runi were found murdered in their rented flat in Dhaka's West Raja Bazar on the morning of 11 February 2012. Their young son was at home and raised the alarm. Several suspects were detained from October 2012, but DNA tests linked none of them to the crime, and no motive was ever made public. The deadline for the investigation report has been deferred more than 120 times. In 2024 the High Court removed the case from RAB and handed it to a special task force under the Home Ministry; it remains unsolved.
