Yeti Airlines Flight 691 Crash

ClosedSources: ALast updated: 14 October 2026

On 15 January 2023, Yeti Airlines Flight 691, an ATR 72 from Kathmandu to Pokhara, crashed into the gorge of the Seti Gandaki River while approaching Pokhara International Airport, which had opened two weeks earlier. All 68 passengers and four crew were killed, making it Nepal's deadliest air crash since 1992. Footage live-streamed on social media by a passenger until seconds before impact spread around the world. The investigation found that during the approach the crew had mistakenly moved the levers that feathered both propellers instead of selecting flaps, so the engines stopped producing thrust and the aircraft stalled.
