Murder of Monica Kimani
Businesswoman Monica Kimani was found murdered in her flat in Nairobi's Kilimani area on 19 September 2018, shortly after returning from abroad. Because one of the first suspects was a well-known television presenter, the case became one of the most closely followed in Kenya. After a trial lasting nearly six years, Nairobi's High Court found one defendant guilty of murder on 9 February 2024 and acquitted the television presenter. On 13 March 2024, ruling that the killing was planned, the court sentenced him to death. He has appealed.
