NABATIEH — 2021 · Unsolved Case
The Murder of Lokman Slim
Lebanese publisher, researcher and political commentator Lokman Slim went missing on the night of 3 February 2021 after leaving a friend's home near Niha in southern Lebanon. The next day he was found shot dead in his car on a road between Addoussiyeh and Tefahta. Slim had publicly said he had received threats against his life. The prosecutor's inquiry closed in May 2021 without charges; in early 2025 the investigating judge also closed the file against unknown perpetrators, citing a lack of data from security services. Following appeals by the family and rights groups, the Court of Cassation ordered the file transferred to a new judge in April 2025, reopening the investigation.
