İZMIR — 2004 · Unsolved Case
An Unsolved Strangling in Eskiizmir
On 28 January 2004 a person identified as E.K. was found strangled by unknown assailants in the Eskiizmir area of what is now Karabağlar, İzmir. The investigation that followed failed to identify any perpetrator. The file joined the unsolved murder cases that sat on İzmir's shelves for years. In Yeni Asır's comprehensive reports of 2023 and 2026 the killing was again listed among İzmir murders whose perpetrators have not been found. The creation of a dedicated unsolved-crimes department in 2026 raised the prospect of such files being reopened.
