A Woman Missing for 13 Years Turns Up in Datça
M.C.H., a 64-year-old woman whom her children in the Netherlands had been seeking as missing for about 13 years, came to attention after they appealed on a Dutch TV programme about missing people. Consular officials, thinking she might be in Datça, where she had once holidayed, alerted Turkish authorities. Datça police quickly found her living in the town, working as a carer for an elderly person. Brought to the police station on 2 April 2015, she said she had not known she was listed as missing. She was found to have no residence permit and legal steps were taken; the file closed as a missing-person case resolved without any crime.
