The Tülay Ündeş and Zaide Alkaç case
On 24 December 2025, in the Kilimli district of Zonguldak, Tülay Ündeş and her mother Zaide Alkaç were shot dead with a rifle as they approached their home while returning from visiting a sick relative; the shooter was Tülay's husband, from whom she was in the process of divorcing. The defendant was apprehended and arrested in the same district. The Zonguldak 2nd Heavy Penal Court convicted the defendant of 'intentionally killing a spouse and a woman' on two separate counts and sentenced him to aggravated life imprisonment on each; no discretionary reduction was applied, as he showed no genuine remorse. After the hearing, the victims' relatives said that although a restraining order had previously been in place and they had filed repeated complaints over threatening messages, they had never obtained any result.
