The Cursed Village of Kuldhara
Folklore — not a documented case
The inhabitants of Kuldhara in the Thar Desert are said to have abandoned their village in a single night, leaving a curse that no one would ever live there again.
About 18 kilometres west of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, in the middle of the Thar Desert, stands a silent village of stone houses: Kuldhara. It is believed to have been founded in the 13th century and to have been home for centuries to the Paliwal Brahmins, a prosperous farming community known for their skill at harvesting water and farming in the desert.
