Kaghan Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan (folk tale)

The Fairy of Lake Saiful Muluk

Folklore — not a documented case

On a high mountain lake in northern Pakistan, a fairy princess loved by a prince is said to dance on the water on full-moon nights.

Lake Saiful Muluk is a glacial lake at about 3,224 metres at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley, near the town of Naran in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The snowy peak of Malika Parbat is reflected in its waters. The lake takes its name from a love story much loved in South Asia.
