Bahla, Oman (folk tale)

Bahla: The City of Magic

Folklore — not a documented case

Oman's UNESCO-listed Bahla fort and oasis are known as the 'City of Magic'. The 13-kilometre wall around the town is said to have been built in a single night with the help of the jinn.

Bahla is a mud-brick oasis town in the interior of Oman, at the foot of the Hajar Mountains. Its massive fort, built by the Banu Nebhan tribe who dominated the region between the 12th and 15th centuries, the roughly 13-kilometre wall around the oasis and the Friday Mosque became Oman's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
