Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (urban legend)
The Abandoned Village of Jazirat al-Hamra
Folklore — not a documented case
The old pearling village in the northern UAE is said to have become home to jinn and ghosts after it was emptied in the 1960s.
Jazirat al-Hamra is a coastal village in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, built on what was once a tidal island surrounded by lagoons and marshes. Founded by the Za'ab tribe in the late 16th century, it lived for centuries from pearl diving, and by the early 20th century it was a lively settlement with hundreds of coral-stone houses, mosques, forts and a market.
