Wadi al-Baida, Medina, Saudi Arabia (folk tale)
The Valley of the Jinn
Folklore — not a documented case
In a valley near Medina, cars left in neutral appear to roll uphill on their own. Popular belief credits the jinn; science shows it is an optical illusion.
Wadi al-Baida, about 30 kilometres northwest of Medina, is better known as 'Wadi al-Jinn', the 'Valley of the Jinn'. Surrounded by black volcanic hills, it is a popular stop for visitors to the region, especially those on Hajj and Umrah.
