Baalbek, Lebanon (legend)

Baalbek: The Temple Built by Jinn

Folklore — not a documented case

Folk tales say the giant stone blocks of Lebanon's Baalbek temples were set in place by jinn at the command of King Solomon.

Baalbek, in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, was known in antiquity as Heliopolis. The temple complex built here in the Roman era includes one of the largest temple structures of the Roman world. The six surviving giant columns of the Temple of Jupiter are today one of the symbols of Lebanon.
