The Bình Phước Massacre
On the morning of 7 July 2015, six members of the same family were found dead at a wealthy businessman's villa in Minh Hưng, Chơn Thành District, Bình Phước Province. A young child of the family survived with serious injuries. Police quickly arrested a young man who was the ex-boyfriend of one of the family's daughters, together with his friend; the investigation found the killings were motivated by revenge and robbery. A third person was tried for assisting. In December 2015 the Bình Phước People's Court sentenced the two perpetrators to death and the third to 16 years. The two death sentences were carried out in 2017 and 2018. It was recorded as one of Vietnam's worst mass murders in recent years.
