The Suzanne Pilley case
In May 2010, 38-year-old accountant Suzanne Pilley disappeared on her way to work in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was never seen again. Her body was never found. The investigation examined the aftermath of the end of a relationship she had had with a colleague; forensic findings, phone records, and vehicle movements were presented as evidence. In 2012, the court found the defendant guilty of murder despite the absence of a body and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
