PARIS — 2015 · Major Tragedy
The 13 November Paris Attacks
On the evening of 13 November 2015, IS-linked gunmen and suicide bombers struck the Bataclan concert hall, several cafés and restaurants, and the area around the Stade de France in Paris. 130 people were killed and hundreds injured, most of the dead at the Bataclan. It was the deadliest peacetime attack in French history and a state of emergency was declared. After a nine-month special trial, 20 defendants were convicted in June 2022; the sole surviving attacker received life without parole. Six were tried in absentia, believed dead in Syria.
