Scotland, Loch Ness (cryptozoological legend)

The Loch Ness Monster

Folklore — not a documented case

Since the 1930s, numerous reports have claimed sightings of a large creature in the lake. Though one of the world's best-known cryptozoological tales, no photograph or finding has ever been scientifically confirmed.

Modern interest in a large creature said to live in Scotland's Loch Ness began with a witness account published in a newspaper in 1933.

The stories in this section are folk tales and legends; they are not verified, real events and should not be confused with the rest of the archive.
