Bosomtwe: The Lake Where Souls Say Farewell
Folklore — not a documented case
According to Ashanti belief, the souls of the dead come to Ghana's sacred Lake Bosomtwe to bid farewell to the goddess. The lake lies in a meteorite crater.
Lake Bosomtwe (Bosumtwi) lies about 30 kilometres southeast of Kumasi in Ghana, a nearly perfectly round lake surrounded by forested hills. It is Ghana's only natural lake and sits inside an impact crater about 10.5 kilometres wide.
