Honda, Colombia (folk tale)
The Mohán of the Magdalena River
Folklore — not a documented case
Along Colombia's Magdalena River, a long-haired water spirit with glowing eyes called the Mohán is said to live in riverside caves.
In Colombia's interior, especially in the regions of Tolima and Huila, people living along the Magdalena River speak of a being called the Mohán. According to the tales, the Mohán is a burly man with long, unkempt hair that covers nearly his whole body. In some accounts he is covered in moss, his eyes glow in the dark and his nails are long. He is said to live in caves near streams, rivers and lakes, caves whose interiors are filled with gold.
