Lima, Peru (urban legend)

Casa Matusita

Folklore — not a documented case

In central Lima, the upper floor of the two-storey Casa Matusita is said to be a place where strange things happen and no one can stay for long.

Standing at the corner of Garcilaso de la Vega and España avenues in central Lima, Casa Matusita carries Peru's most famous haunted-house legend. The building dates from the early twentieth century, around its first decade, and takes its name from a hardware business called Matusita that occupied the ground floor from the 1950s until 2005.
