The Storsjön Monster

Folklore — not a documented case

A serpent-like creature with a long neck and ears is said to swim in Sweden's Lake Storsjön; legend says a sorcerer once bound it with a spell carved on a runestone.

Around Lake Storsjön in the Jämtland region, people have told for generations of a great creature moving through the water. According to the tales, Storsjöodjuret looks like a serpent, close to ten metres long, with a long neck; its head resembles a dog's and carries ears, and humps are said to show on its back as it swims.
