WINDHOEK — 2007 · Serial Murder
The B1 Butcher
Between 2005 and 2007 at least five women were killed in Namibia and their remains left along the B1 highway, which runs through the capital Windhoek between Rehoboth and Okahandja. Most of the remains were found between June and August 2007, and further remains believed to be linked were discovered near Grootfontein in September 2007. The press dubbed the killer the 'B1 Butcher'. A suspect arrested in 2007 was tried and acquitted; another man, who had died in 2008, was later linked to the killings, but the connection was never proven. Regarded as Namibia's first known serial murder case, it remains officially unsolved.
