SØRUMSAND — 1999 · Murder
The Orderud Case
On 22 May 1999, at the Orderud farm in the municipality of Sørum, Akershus, 47-year-old Anne Orderud Paust and her parents, aged 84 and 81, were found shot dead in their home. Anne Orderud Paust was a civil servant at the Ministry of Defence, which gave rise to various theories about the crime. The investigation focused on family disputes over ownership of the farm. In 2001 the victim's brother, his wife, his wife's sister and that sister's former boyfriend were sentenced to between 16 and 21 years for complicity in premeditated murder. However, no court ever determined who actually fired the shots. The convicts were released on parole in 2015, and the case remains one of Norway's most controversial.
