The Death of David Dragičević

Under InvestigationSources: ALast updated: 14 October 2026

Twenty-one-year-old David Dragičević went missing in Banja Luka on 18 March 2018; his body was found in a creek in a suburb of the city on 24 March 2018. Police said he had fallen into the water and drowned, but his family, pointing to injuries found on the body, maintained that he had been murdered and that the case was being covered up. The family's "Justice for David" (Pravda za Davida) movement grew into months of daily protests in Banja Luka's Krajina Square and spread to Sarajevo, Zenica and Tuzla. A parliamentary inquiry board found murder probable, but its report was rejected by the assembly. A murder investigation was opened in July 2018, yet no one was arrested and the death remains officially unresolved.
