GLASGOW — 1969 · Unsolved Case
The "Bible John" Murders
In 1968 and 1969 three women aged between 25 and 32 were found dead in Glasgow after nights out at the Barrowland Ballroom. The third victim's sister described a man who had spent the evening with them, called himself "John" and quoted from the Bible; the press named the killer "Bible John". A team of some 100 detectives took thousands of statements. Various individuals were considered over the following decades, but no one was ever charged. It remains one of Scotland's largest unsolved manhunts.
