HAVERHILL — 2004 · Missing Person
The Disappearance of Maura Murray
Maura Murray, a 21-year-old nursing student at the University of Massachusetts, crashed her car on Route 112 in Haverhill, New Hampshire, on the evening of 9 February 2004. A passing driver offered help, but she reportedly declined. When police arrived at around 7:46 pm, the car was locked and Murray was gone. In days of searching, tracking dogs lost her scent a short distance down the road. Her case became one of the first major internet true-crime mysteries. The file has been with New Hampshire's cold case unit since 2009, and in 2024 authorities released an age-progressed photograph.
