Beşiktaş Stadium Bombings
On the evening of 10 December 2016, after a Beşiktaş-Bursaspor match, two bombs exploded in succession near the Vodafone Park stadium and in Maçka Park. Forty-seven people, most of them riot police officers, were killed and 242 injured. The PKK-linked TAK claimed responsibility. The trial of 27 defendants concluded on 17 May 2019: four defendants found to have planned the attack received 47 terms of aggravated life imprisonment each, and others found to have assisted received various prison sentences.
