Mount Jangsan, Busan, South Korea (urban legend)

The Jangsan Tiger

Folklore — not a documented case

A long-haired white creature that mimics human voices to lure hikers into the forest is said to roam Mount Jangsan in Busan. It is a modern legend born on the internet in the 2000s.

Jangsanbeom, the 'Jangsan Tiger', is one of South Korea's best-known modern urban legends. It takes its name from Mount Jangsan, a 634-metre peak in Busan's Haeundae district. Rather than ancient mythology, it grew out of eyewitness-style stories shared on internet forums in the early 2000s.
