Carmarthenshire, Wales — Llyn y Fan Fach (folk tale)
The Lady of Llyn y Fan Fach
Folklore — not a documented case
A mysterious woman is said to have risen from a Welsh mountain lake, married a shepherd and returned to the water after three “causeless blows”, leaving behind the knowledge of healing.
Llyn y Fan Fach is a small glacial lake beneath the steep slopes of the Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) of Wales. It is the setting of one of the best-known Welsh fairy tales.
