SAN FRANCISCO DEL RINCÓN — 1964 · Serial Murder
Las Poquianchis — The González Sisters
From the 1950s the González Valenzuela sisters, born in Jalisco, ran brothels across Guanajuato, Jalisco and Querétaro. Their base was "Rancho El Ángel" near San Francisco del Rincón. Women were lured with advertisements for domestic work and held against their will. In 1964, acting on the statement of a procuress accused of abducting young girls, police searched the ranch and found the remains of at least 91 people; the real number is believed to be much higher. Guinness World Records listed them as history's "most prolific murder partnership". The sisters were tried in 1964 and each sentenced to 40 years in prison. In 2025 the case was adapted into Netflix's series "Las Muertas".
