The Assassination of John Lennon
On the evening of 8 December 1980, musician John Lennon (40) was shot and killed at the entrance to his home in New York. The gunman, Mark David Chapman, had gotten Lennon's autograph earlier that same day and, after the shooting, waited at the scene until he surrendered to police.
