The Tokyo Metropolitan Murders
UnsolvedSources: CLast updated: 14 October 2026
Between 1968 and 1974, ten people — mostly women in their twenties — were killed in the Chiba, Saitama, and Tokyo areas of Tokyo. The attacker's method was to target women living alone, kill them late at night, and then burn the bodies. A suspect was taken into custody in 1974 but released for lack of sufficient evidence; the case remains officially unsolved.
