Kampot, Cambodia (urban legend)

The Abandoned Hill Station of Bokor

Folklore — not a documented case

A resort town the French built on a misty mountaintop in Cambodia, abandoned again and again, is said to be full of the spirits of workers who died building it.

Bokor Mountain, near the town of Kampot in southern Cambodia, rises to about a thousand metres and is often wrapped in cloud and mist. In the early 1920s the French colonial administration decided to build a resort on this cool summit for Europeans wanting to escape the hot plains.
