According to a tale dating back to the 1960s, an elderly woman believed in the region to possess supernatural powers was known as "Belkıs Ana," said to bring healing through prayer and breath. Over time the tale spread beyond the region to become one of Turkey's most talked-about mysterious stories. Yet research has found no document of any person by this name in village or state records; it survives entirely through oral tradition.
