Houska Castle: The Gate to Hell
Folklore — not a documented case
Houska Castle north of Prague is said to have been built over a bottomless chasm, a gateway to hell, in order to seal it shut.
About fifty kilometres north of Prague, on a wooded rock outcrop, stands Houska Castle, home to one of the eeriest legends in Czechia. According to the tales, the castle was built over a chasm with no visible bottom, a gateway to hell, and its purpose was not to keep attackers out but to keep something within from getting out.
