KOWLOON — 1982 · Serial Murder
The "Rainy Night Killer" — Kowloon
Between February and July 1982, four women who took taxis late at night in Kowloon, Hong Kong, were killed. Lam Kor-wan, a night-shift taxi driver, picked up his victims and took them to his home in To Kwa Wan. In August 1982 he was arrested after a photo shop reported images on film he had left for developing; a search of his home found evidence of the crimes. The press called him the "Rainy Night Butcher" and the "Jars Killer". He was sentenced to death in April 1983; as executions were no longer carried out in Hong Kong, the sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in 1984.
